HR certification readiness checklist
Before applying, check that you can answer these questions:
- Which credential matches the level of HR work I perform?
- Can I document the required HR experience?
- Have I reviewed all seven examination domains and their weightings?
- Do I understand the question format, duration, and passing standard?
- Will I prepare independently or use a training programme?
- Have I checked the full programme cost and annual maintenance requirement?
- Do I know my course-access and examination deadlines?
- Can I meet the examination’s technical and proctoring requirements?
Use this checklist to identify what you need to clarify before registering. It is a preparation aid; LYL HRM determines formal eligibility through its application process.
THE CREDENTIALS
Build a study plan around the examination domains
Create one row for each of the seven published domains. Give extra preparation time to areas where you have less experience and to domains carrying greater examination weight.
Your Examination Domain Planner
| Domain from the published standard | Weighting | Confidence | Practice example I can explain | Next study action | Review date |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
For each study session
Use this checklist to structure each focused preparation session.
This planner helps structure preparation. It is not an examination blueprint or a guarantee of readiness.
Organise your HR experience
Build a clear record of the work you have performed. Focus on your responsibilities, dates, and contribution rather than job titles alone.
Experience Record 1
Protect workplace confidentiality
Use anonymised examples in your personal preparation notes. Keep employee names, payroll records, grievances, and other confidential workplace information out of study materials.
Practise an HR business-partner conversation
Use these prompts to connect an HR issue to a business decision.
